Summary
The PLTW Gateway Program, supported by Duke Energy, aims to enhance middle school education by expanding access to hands-on learning in STEM fields. Through this initiative, students engage in a range of activities that promote exploration and collaboration, helping them discover their passions and potential career paths. Schools in Florida's eligible counties can apply for funding to implement or expand their PLTW Gateway programs, ensuring that more students benefit from this transformative educational experience.Overview
PLTW Gateway The Duke Energy Foundation is focused on strengthening and uplifting communities throughout Florida. It is a privilege for us to support organizations like PLTW that make our communities vibrant places to live and work. At Duke Energy, we know that the investments we make today can make a difference for years to come. Middle school is a time of exploration, a time when students are figuring out what they're passionate about today and how that relates to who they'll become tomorrow. During this transitional time, PLTW Gateway's 10 units empower students to lead their own discovery. The hands-on program boosts classroom engagement and excitement, drives collaboration, and inspires “aha! moments” and deep comprehension. And as students engage in PLTW's activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they see a range of paths and possibilities they can look forward to in high school and beyond. Through this partnership, the Duke Energy Foundation has committed funds to support PLTW grants to schools interested in starting or expanding PLTW Gateway programs beginning in the next academic year.
