NOTE: The family meets every December to decide which organizations to support financially. About Welcome to The Pleiad Foundation, a Birmingham, Alabama-based private family charitable foundation. We support organizations local to the Greater Birmingham and Central Alabama area, as well as organizations in which Foundation members are interested or involved. We only meet once a year, in January, to make our disbursement decisions for the year. On average, we donate to between twenty and thirty non-profits annually. Since our founding in 1996, the Pleiad Foundation has made cumulative donations in excess of 17.5 million dollars. Causes We Support Our foundation is committed to supporting higher education, medical research, and arts and cultural organizations of Birmingham and Central Alabama. Funding for smaller local projects and organizations, in various fields, is just as important to us.
