Place-Based Impact Investing (PBII) Program

Organization: Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina

Total Capital: $3 million impact investing program; Truist awarded $400,000 additional grant in March 2026

Geographic Scope: Nine-county service area in coastal South Carolina (Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry and Jasper counties)

Purpose:

  • Generate measurable societal benefit while delivering financial returns

  • Support local businesses and spark social change

  • DK Hayden: Family-owned construction business across SC, NC, and VA; received PBII funding to enable local employment for minority contractors and establish strategic business relationships in underserved communities

  • Palmetto Project: Nonprofit organization; Insure S.C. program aims to increase healthcare participation through multiple enrollment options for South Carolina residents; achieved third highest ACA enrollment in coastal SC between December and February
  • Eligibility for Co-Investment: Fully-endowed, donor-advised fundholders are invited to consider co-investing with CCF in this fund
