Overview

PIDC-D'Alessio Scholarship for Urban Development

Purpose: Supports graduate students at Philadelphia schools pursuing careers in urban development and finance.

Background: Established in 2018 as part of PIDC's 60th Anniversary to honor Walt D'Alessio's 46+ years of service as Chief Executive and Chairman of PIDC. The scholarship recognizes his dedication, integrity, and commitment to supporting growth throughout Philadelphia.

Geographic Scope: Philadelphia area

Award Details:

  • Amount: Up to $2,500 per scholarship

  • Number of Awards: Up to 2 scholarships per year

  • Additional Benefit: Scholarship recipients are offered a paid PIDC fall internship
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    1. Pursuing a graduate degree
    2. Student at a Philadelphia college or university; OR a Philadelphia resident at a college or university studying outside the Philadelphia area
    3. Pursuing one of the following areas of study:
    - Urban Studies
    - Economics
    - Law
    - Public Administration
    - Real Estate
    - Regional and/or City Planning
    - Urban Planning and Design

    Transcript Requirements

    • Official transcripts are not required; unofficial transcripts are acceptable
    • Full name must be visible on all documentation provided
    • Transcript must be a full transcript showing all grades, not just a grade report
