Overview

PIDC-D'Alessio Scholarship for Urban Development

Purpose: This scholarship supports graduate students at Philadelphia schools pursuing careers in urban development and finance.

Background: Established in 2018 as part of PIDC's 60th Anniversary in recognition of Walt D'Alessio's 46+ years of leadership as Chief Executive and Chairman of PIDC. The scholarship honors his dedication, integrity, and commitment to supporting growth throughout Philadelphia.

Geographic Scope: Philadelphia region

  • Students at Philadelphia colleges or universities, OR

  • Philadelphia residents attending colleges/universities outside the Philadelphia area
  • Award Information:

  • Up to two (2) scholarships of up to $2,500 each will be awarded annually

  • Scholarship recipients will also be offered a paid PIDC fall internship (2025 internship was offered for 2026 scholarship year)
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree

  • Enrolled at a Philadelphia college or university, OR Philadelphia resident at college/university outside Philadelphia

  • Pursuing one of the following areas of study:

  • - Urban Studies
    - Economics
    - Law
    - Public Administration
    - Real Estate
    - Regional and/or City Planning
    - Urban Planning and Design

    Application Process

    1. Create ISTS Login: Create a new ISTS login if you're a first-time applicant
    2. Add New Application: Click the "Add New Application" button
    3. Enter Program Key: Enter the program key "PIDC"
    4. Submit Application: Complete all required components through the application portal

    • Two short essays (no more than 250 words each)

    2. How will this scholarship and internship opportunity advance your career and/or personal life?

    Transcript Requirements

    • Official transcripts are not required; unofficial transcripts are acceptable
    • Full name must be visible on all documentation provided
    • Transcript should be a full transcript showing all grades, not just a grade report
