Overview

Philadelphia Diverse Emerging Leaders (PhiDEL) Scholarship & Internship Program

Purpose: This program offers local students from various backgrounds and experiences both financial support and hands-on professional experience in real estate and economic development fields.

Background: Launched in 2025 by PIDC with support from Crow Holdings and Colliers. Designed to advance opportunities and outcomes for students interested in pursuing careers in real estate and economic development-related fields.

Geographic Scope: Philadelphia region

  • Students at Philadelphia colleges or universities, OR

  • Philadelphia residents attending colleges/universities outside the Philadelphia area
  • Award & Internship Information:

  • Up to two (2) scholarships of up to $5,000 each awarded annually

  • Fully funded summer internship in real estate/economic development

  • Real-world experience in work environment matching student's major and career goals
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Full-time undergraduates (sophomores, juniors, seniors) OR graduate students

  • Enrolled at Philadelphia college or university, OR Philadelphia resident at college/university outside Philadelphia

  • Must plan to be in Philadelphia for summer internships

  • Must commit to full participation throughout summer internship

  • Pursuing one of these majors/concentrations:

  • - Real Estate (or related)
    - Business Administration (any business major/concentration)
    - Economic Development (or related)
    - Law/Legal Studies
    - Political Science/Public Policy
    - Information Technology
    - Marketing/Communications/Public Relations
    - Human Resources
    - Urban, City or Regional Planning/Design or Architecture
    - Entrepreneurship
    - Similar majors with different names are also eligible

    • Four short essays (no more than 500 words each)

    Transcript Requirements

    • Official transcripts are not required; unofficial transcripts are acceptable
    • Full name must be visible on all documentation provided
    • Transcript should be a full transcript showing all grades, not just a grade report
