Perkins Non-Traditional Occupations Grant RFP

The Perkins Non-Traditional Occupations Grant RFP seeks proposals to enhance gender equity in underrepresented fields such as Education, Health Care, and STEM. With funding of $20,000 to $30,000 per year for three years, the initiative aims to improve participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. By addressing gender disparities, the grant will facilitate smoother transitions from education to workforce, ensuring diverse pathways and support for students in non-traditional careers.

Purpose
The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals for Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century (referred to as Perkins V) Non-Traditional Occupations (NTO) Grants to improve gender equity and representation in targeted occupational fields (such as Education, Health Care, STEM, Natural Resources, Informational Technology, Construction) important to the current and future state economy. An NTO designation means that one gender (either male or female) represents less than 25% of the current national workforce in that field. Designation is made at the federal level based on countrywide labor statistics.
These grants will improve the participation and inclusion of underrepresented genders in their areas of focus and deliver high-quality CTE programs to those students. Grants are expected to facilitate smooth transitions from secondary education, through postsecondary training, and into the workforce. They will prioritize offering multiple entry and exit points, including stackable courses and/or credentials for maximum participation and effect.
Funding
DEED/CTE expects to make 2-3 awards of $20,000 to $30,000 per year for three (3) years. Exceptional proposals may be granted a larger annual budget, or longer grant term, upon request.
