Program Overview

The People Helping People program helps communities and parishes with donations of both monetary and goods. Each year, Societies of KJZT Family Life focus on participating in parish and community work projects and fundraisers throughout the State. During 2024, the Fraternal's members volunteered over 27,000 hours and raised and donated $274,000 to Texas communities and parishes.

Funding Categories

The program supports three types of community initiatives:

1. Fundraiser - Up to 50% matching funds (maximum $1,000 per Society)
2. Work Project - Reimbursement up to $250 for supplies/expenses
3. Disaster Relief Project - 100% matching funds (maximum $1,000 per Society)

  • Local charities (suggested by KJZT members)
  • Food pantries (for Feeding Families Across Texas program)

    How the Program Works

  • Local KJZT Societies participate in parish and community work projects and fundraisers
  • Local Societies' fundraising efforts are monetarily matched up to 50% by the State Office (maximum $1,000)
  • Qualifying disaster relief projects receive 100% matching funds from the State Office (maximum $1,000)
  • Members can suggest their favorite local charity as a recipient of donations
  • Societies report activities and request matching funds through formal applications

Special Programs Within People Helping People

Feeding Families Across Texas (adopted 2009)

  • Societies can donate money or goods to local food pantries

  • Receive up to $200 in matching funds from State Office

  • All funds raised must be designated for a food pantry

  • Since inception: Over $100,000 donated to local food pantries
  • Clerical Endowment Fund (CEF)

  • Voluntary donations from members, Societies, and others

  • Funds benefit those studying for the priesthood

  • Total donations presented to Bishops of indicated Dioceses

  • State Chaplain offers Masses for donors and enrollees

  • Can be given as gift for special occasions, times of need, or remembrance

  • - Fundraiser (for matching funds)
    - Work Project (for reimbursement)
    - Disaster Relief Project
  • Beneficiary: Community or Parish

  • Project Details: Description of project (50 character limit)

  • Recipient of Funds: Organization name (75 character limit)

  • Date: Date of project/event

  • Submitted by: Name of Society Officer, Email Address, Position (30 character limit)

  • Signature: Electronic signature of Society Officer

  • Current Date: Date form completed
  • #### 2. People Helping People Fund Request
    (For requesting matching funds after project completion)

    Required information:

  • Society Information: Society Number, Society Name, City/State/Zip

  • Activity Type: Select one:

  • - Community/Parish Fundraiser (50% match, up to $1,000)
    - Community/Parish Work Project (up to $250 reimbursement for supplies)
    - Community/Parish Disaster Relief (100% match, up to $1,000)
  • Recipient of Funds: Organization name

  • Date: Date event was held

  • Amount Raised: Total funds raised

  • Expenses: Less expenses incurred during activity

  • Amount Requested: Matching funds or reimbursement requested

  • Documentation: Upload file for receipts (for work project reimbursement)

  • Mailing Information: Name of Society Officer, Address, City, State, Zip (for check delivery)

  • Signature: Electronic signature of Society Officer

    Fundraiser Reimbursement:

  • 50% of funds raised will be matched (up to $1,000)
