Peace Village Scholarship Program

Overview: Peace Village awards scholarships to high school graduates who are members of the dining staff employed by Morrison Dining Services at Peace Village Senior Living.

Geographic Scope: Palos Park, Illinois area

Eligibility:

  • High school graduates

  • Current or prospective employees of Peace Village dining staff (Morrison Dining Services)

  • Candidates must be willing to continue their education (college or trades)

    • Award Amount: Varies annually; in 2022, five scholarships totaling $11,000 were awarded

    Selection Criteria:

  • Grades (3 years of academic records)

  • Academic awards and achievements

  • Extracurricular activities (sports, dance, leadership roles)

  • Letters of recommendation (3 required)

  • 500-word essay explaining student experiences, goals, and reasons for choosing those goals

  • Scoring on 100-point scale based on formula considering grades, activities, and volunteer experience

  • Committee members score applications with identifying information removed (names, schools, genders removed for unbiased evaluation)
