Patient Assistance Grant Program
Geographic Scope: Open to all patients worldwide with a GRIN2B diagnosis
Program Overview: The GRIN2B Foundation Patient Assistance Grant Program provides financial support to families of patients with GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorders to access medical equipment, therapies, and devices not covered by insurance.
- Durable medical goods (safety beds, wheelchairs, orthotics, cooling vests, etc.)
- Disposable medical equipment not covered by insurance (diapers, wipes, first aid supplies)
- Therapy equipment not covered by insurance
- Therapies not covered by insurance (therapeutic horseback riding, aquatic therapy, etc.)
- Communication devices and/or communication software (including iPads)
- Travel grants to access specialty medical care
Covered Items
- Medical or pharmaceutical co-pays
- Respite assistance
- Service animals
- Equipment other than new equipment
Not Covered
- Patient must have a GRIN2B diagnosis
- Family must be registered in the GRIN2B Foundation Family Registry
- Denial letters or documentation from insurance companies required
- One application per grant cycle
- Yearly maximum: $1,500
- Lifetime award maximum: $5,000
Eligibility Requirements
- Applications reviewed and approved on first-come, first-served basis
- Up to 60 days for review
- Incomplete applications not placed in queue until complete
- All applicants receive email notification of approval or denial
- Denied applicants may reapply with additional documentation of changed circumstances
Application Process Details
- Award recipients must submit a photo of child using equipment/therapy for promotional purposes (first name only, with written consent)
- GRIN2B Foundation makes no recommendation on appropriateness or safety of equipment/therapies
- Applicants strongly urged to consult medical professionals
- All application information kept confidential

How to Apply
1. Register your family in the GRIN2B Foundation Family Registry (if not already registered)
2. Complete the application form
3. Email required documentation to Aubrey Schrock at aubrey.schrock@grin2b.com:
- Letter of denial from insurance provider stating the requested equipment/service was denied (when possible)
- Recent letter from child's physician or health care professional explaining medical necessity of request (when possible)
- Any other documentation pertaining to the nature of your request
4. Application Review
- Applications reviewed on first-come, first-served basis
- Up to 60 days for review
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until complete
5. Notification
- All applicants receive email stating approval or denial
- If denied, you may reapply with additional documentation of changed circumstances
- If requesting equipment not listed above or more than 3 items, contact the foundation with details for eligibility review
Special Requests
- Grants paid directly to vendor for new equipment only
- Award recipients must submit photo of child using equipment/therapy for promotional purposes (with written consent, first name only)
