Overview
The Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society (OTS) presents the Paper of the Year Awards to acknowledge groundbreaking research in oligonucleotide therapeutics. Awards are given in two categories: Basic Research and Late Discovery, recognizing impactful studies from July to June of the preceding year. Recipients receive a $1,000 USD award and a certificate during the OTS Annual Meeting, celebrating contributions to this innovative therapeutic area.
About the Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society (OTS)
The idea for the OTS was conceived in 2001 in a small secluded castle in Tuscany, Italy, by an international group of renowned oligonucleotide scientists. The idea of the founders was to bring together the expertise from different angles of oligonucleotide research to create synergies and to bring the field of oligonucleotides to its full therapeutic potential. A new era of oligonucleotide drugs was envisioned that would change the landscape of therapeutic modalities, very much like the impact that antibodies had on human therapeutics over the last decade.
The highly regarded annual OTS meeting draws experts from all over the world for cross-disciplinary exchange spanning expertise in chemistry and delivery, to biology, immunology and clinical medicine.
Paper of the Year Awards are designed to honor the most impactful papers in the field of oligonucleotide therapeutics.
There are two categories for Paper of the Year Awards reflecting the scope of excellent research being done in the field of oligonucleotide therapeutics:
- Basic Research – Paper must be on a Basic Research (pre-clinical) topic relevant to oligonucleotide therapeutics
- Late Discovery – Paper must be on a Late Discovery (large pre-clinical models and clinical studies) topic relevant to oligonucleotide therapeutics
- Recipients receive:
- $1,000 USD award
- Presentation of an award certificate at the OTS Annual Meeting
Eligibility
Papers must be published between July – June preceding the current year’s Annual Meeting.
For 2025 awards, papers must be published between July 2024 – June 2025.
