Overview
The Oil Spill Recovery Institute (OSRI) in Cordova, Alaska annually awards graduate fellowships. We are soliciting proposals for two new graduate research fellowships. New fellowships are made available on a competitive basis to students admitted to or enrolled in a full-time masters or doctoral program at accredited colleges and universities. Fellowships may be funded for up to two years for masters or four years for doctoral level research. Previously funded students whose fellowships are expiring may reapply for additional funding, but their proposal will be evaluated as a new proposal. Proposals for up to $30,000 per year will be accepted. Funding can be used for stipend, tuition, and other research-related expenses. A 25% match contribution is required
Program objectives
OSRI funds projects that will
* enhance scientific understanding of Arctic and subArctic marine and estuarine ecosystems, and
* provide information needed by managers and decision-makers for oil spill response and recovery.
The OSRI Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) Program offers qualified masters and doctoral students the opportunity to address scientific and socioeconomic issues of significance to oil spills in Arctic and sub-Arctic regions.
