NYC Fund for Girls and Young Women

Overview:
The first of its kind in the United States, the NYC Fund for Girls and Young Women pools resources to invest in nonprofit efforts that promote the well-being and leadership of young women as change agents. The Fund partners with communities and other allies to advance inclusion and equal opportunities.

Mission

• Address the fact that only 2% of philanthropic funding in the U.S. goes to women and girls
• Shift philanthropic practices by increasing sustained investments for girls and young women of color
• Share knowledge on effective strategies and approaches

• Phase 1 (2015-2022): Local leadership development and investments in underinvested organizations
• Phase 2 (2023-2030): Issues that lead to negative impacts in mental health and emotional well-being
• Current cycle focus: Mental health and emotional well-being of focus communities

• First seven years (2015-2022): Invested in local leadership
• Total funding: Over $22 million granted
