The North Carolina Herpetological Society's grants program supports herpetological research, conservation, and education projects by members of the NCHS. Grants ranging up to $1,000 will be awarded on an annual basis, as funding is available. Since 1995, the NCHS has awarded over $67,000 in grant money to >100 research projects. We fund research in any geographic location, but proposals must demonstrate clear relevance to North Carolina. This could include: Research involving species native to North Carolina, introduced to North Carolina, or likely to become introduced to North Carolina in the near futureRestoration, monitoring, management or other conservation work taking place in North Carolina or benefitting species native to North Carolina,Herpetological education applicable to the citizens of North CarolinaEligibility

All applicants must be current NCHS members.Research and conservation projects concerned with Endangered, Threatened, Special Concern, or declining species are encouraged, but other projects will be considered.Applications will be accepted from individuals or small teams only, and only one application per year per member will be accepted.We fund research in any geographic location, but only current NCHS members are eligible, so become a member today. Previous grant recipients may submit proposals requesting additional funding for a maximum continuous project duration of three years. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member.Ineligibility
Applications received after the deadline may not be considered for funding.Applicants who have received funding for the same project for three consecutive years are ineligible to receive funding for that project the following yearProjects requesting support for work in countries that are subject to sanctions by the U.S. federal government cannot be considered.The NCHS is a 501(c)3 organization and does not provide funding for overhead or other indirect costs.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
