The CCCHST has training components for:

  • Hazardous materials instruction (HAZWOPER and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 compliance)

  • Training for hazardous waste workers, technicians, and supervisors

  • Waste site cleanup training

  • Disaster site cleanup training

  • Brownfields redevelopment training

  • Hazardous materials transportation training

  • Response to spills and releases of hazardous materials
  • Program Structure:

  • 150+ training organizations with 250+ trainers

  • 3,700+ classes offered annually

  • 60,000+ students trained annually

  • 400,000+ contact hours generated annually

  • Curriculum developed by Hazardous Materials Training and Research Institute (HMTRI), Davenport, Iowa

  • Train-the-trainer model
  • Membership:
    Consists of community colleges partnered with business, industry, universities, and community-based organizations

    Support Provided:

  • CCCHST members charge for courses in their local area

  • Instructors receive small reimbursement for reporting course numbers

  • Instructor Refresher training offered at colleges across the nation (at least every two years)
