Overview: Baptist Health Foundation, in partnership with Baptist Health Inc., established the New Generation of Nurses (NGN) Fund to address Alabama's critical nursing shortage by removing financial barriers to nursing education.

  • Projected shortage: Will double to 14,000 nurses within three years
  • Retirement projection: 39,000 Alabama nurses likely to retire or leave the profession by 2028
  • Problem identified: Students accepted to nursing programs drop out or never start due to financial barriers
