Nashman Faculty Development Grants: Research or Assessment on the Outcomes of Engaged Scholarship

The Nashman Faculty Development Grants at George Washington University aim to foster community engaged scholarship by funding innovative courses, research, and assessment initiatives. These grants support faculty in their efforts to collaborate with community partners, enhancing the impact of their work. With funding up to $2,000, priority is given to junior faculty and projects that involve Washington, DC organizations. This initiative promotes the development of engaged scholarship that benefits both the academic community and society.

Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service
The Honey W. Nashman Center supports the diverse ways GW faculty and students contribute to the community, including direct service; community engagement through courses, practica, or research that create a public benefit; policy and governance; philanthropy; social innovation; and community organizing and activism.
The Nashman Faculty Development Grants promote the development of new community engaged scholarship initiatives at GW, including courses, research, creative activity, and assessment of engagement outcomes.
Funds are available to support:

• Development of new community engaged scholarship courses

Faculty engagement in new community engaged scholarship activities with a community partner, including community-based participatory research, creative activities or other scholarly work
Research/assessment on the outcomes of community engaged scholarship
Individual or group professional development in community engaged scholarship
Strategic planning for community engaged academic departments
Applications will be accepted from GW faculty who are regular full-time faculty, or part-time faculty with a demonstrated long-term commitment to GW. Initiatives in partnership with Washington, DC region organizations/partners will receive preference.

Community Engaged Scholarship Course Development; Community-Based Participatory Research Grants; Faculty Participation in Community Engaged Scholarship Initiatives; Research or Assessment on the Outcomes of Engaged Scholarship; Engaged Department Grants; Professional Development Grants.
Research or Assessment on the Outcomes of Engaged Scholarship
Purpose: Advance research for publication on the practice and outcomes of engaged scholarship and teaching. Preference will be given to those proposals that support the research and publication efforts of junior faculty.
Funding guidelines: Generally, up to $2,000.
