Naomi Blumenthal Memorial Training Grant

Purpose: To support USHJA members in their pursuit of personal and professional goals through grants for eligible Instructor Credential participants who complete coursework and attend a Live Workshop and Examination.

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    Steps:
    1. Meet Instructor Credential prerequisites (USHJA member in good standing above Outreach level, age 18+)
    2. Complete online registration and submit $50 fee to become an Instructor Credential candidate
    3. Complete all required online coursework from the Instructor Credential Library:
    - Athlete Wellness
    - USEF Rules
    - Business and Marketing
    - Equine Law and Ethics
    - Teaching and Coaching
    - Lesson Program Best Practices
    - Riding Theory
    - Stable Management
    - Trailering Essentials
    - Concussion Awareness
    - Safe Sport
    4. Achieve passing score of 80% on each course quiz (may retake as needed)
    5. Submit Candidate Experience Form demonstrating at least 40 hours of mounted and/or unmounted lesson teaching
    6. Submit background check (within six months of workshop participation)
    7. Enroll in Live Workshop and Examination and submit $450 session fee
    8. Attend one-day Workshop (practice teaching with peer review)
    9. Attend Live Examination on day two (develop and execute lesson plans; must score average of 75% to pass)
    10. Apply for Naomi Blumenthal Memorial Training Grant (opens August 1)

  • Proof of completion of all online courses with 80%+ quiz scores

  • Candidate Experience Form with witness verification of 40+ hours teaching
