MountainStar Sports Group Amigo Airsho Skybound Scholarship

Overview: Dedicated to empowering the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals.

Focus Areas:

  • Aviation careers (pilots, flight crew, aircraft maintenance, air traffic control, aviation management)

  • Aerospace careers (aerospace engineering, aerodynamics, propulsion systems, systems engineering)

  • Space careers (astronomy, astrophysics, space engineering, mission operations, planetary science)
  • Geographic Scope: El Paso County or Doña Ana County residents only

    Target Audience: High school graduating seniors

    Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year degree program in aviation, aerospace, or space-related fields

  • Must be a resident of El Paso County or Doña Ana County
  • Award Details:

  • Amount: Up to four $2,500 Aviator Awards

  • Duration: One academic year

  • Use of Funds: Tuition, fees, books, supplies, or other education-related expenses. Funds paid directly to the higher education institution.
  • Selection Criteria:

  • Academic achievement and performance

  • Personal statement and career goals demonstration of passion

  • Quality and relevance of letters of recommendation

  • Community involvement and extracurricular activities (preference given)
  • Sponsor Information: Sponsored by FirstLight Community Foundation, HUNT, Peter Piper Pizza, James Lemaster, and Suzanne Azar in honor of Dick Azar

    Recipient Obligations: Recipients are encouraged to participate in MSSG Amigo Airsho events or related activities as a way of giving back to the community

    2. Essay (500-1,000 words) detailing:
    - Applicant's interest in aviation, space, or aerospace
    - Career goals
    - How the scholarship will help achieve these goals
    3. Two letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or employers attesting to:
    - Academic achievements
    - Character
    - Potential in chosen field
    4. Most recent academic transcript
    5. Proof of enrollment or acceptance into a relevant 2-year or 4-year degree program
