More Joy Community Arts Grant

The More Joy Community Arts Grant supports initiatives that engage the New Orleans community through parading, public performances, and street-based activities rooted in local traditions. This grant aims to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans, particularly focusing on the contributions of Black Masking Indians and Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs. By funding exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs, the grant fosters community spirit and brings joy to neighborhoods through artistic expression.

Now in our fifth decade, Arts New Orleans is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting arts and culture in the city.

More Joy grants are available to support groups engaging the New Orleans community through parading, public performance, and other free, street-based activities that have roots in or pay homage to the street parading culture of New Orleans. These are activities typically done by Black Masking Indians/Mardi Gras Indians and Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs.
These funds seek to promote the continued success of street parades, examine the cultural traditions behind this local tradition, educate children under age 18 in specific traditions, and generally bring More Joy to the neighborhoods of New Orleans via the street parade. Exhibitions, workshops, and other presentations dedicated to the street parading traditions of New Orleans are also eligible for funding.
