Overview: Mission Regional Medical Center awards annual scholarships to high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in the medical/healthcare field.

Background: The scholarship program has been running since at least 2012. In 2012, 24 scholarships were awarded ($12,000 total across MRMC and the Medical Staff). By 2015-2016, the program expanded to $17,000 annually. The program is administered by both Mission Regional Medical Center Administration and the MRMC Medical Staff (comprised of over 300 physicians).

How to Apply
Application Process
1. Obtain Application: Applications available through participating high schools for graduating seniors
2. Complete Application Form: Submit application including:
- Academic performance information
- Financial need documentation
- Extra-curricular activities list
- One-page essay describing yourself and your plans for entering the healthcare field
3. Selection: Hospital administration and medical staff review applications based on criteria above
4. Award: Scholarship recipients are notified and typically attend a luncheon in their honor where they receive scholarship check
