Program Overview:
Rooted in Wyoming offers matching mini-grants to support educational gardens, community gardens, and local food development projects across the state of Wyoming. These grants target initiatives that incorporate hands-on educational activities and promote local food development.

• Schools
• Community organizations
• Local food businesses

Funding Focus Areas

Target areas for mini-grant funding include:
• Local food production projects (e.g., buying inputs, supplies, seeds, garden builds/improvements, developing a greenhouse, purchasing seeds)
• Local food educational programming (e.g., after school programs, culinary classes, programs in school gardens, curriculum development)
• Tuition for coursework, lessons, or workshops pertinent to local food development

Examples of Funded Projects

• Greenhouse funding at the Evanston Youth Club
• Hydroponics project at New West High School in Buffalo
• Purchasing gardening materials for upgrading numerous school and community gardens
• Installation of a new refrigerator to expand market capacity at a local food freedom store
• Tuition to a community college for education in greenhouse management

Impact

More than 18 Sheridan County schools, community organizations, and local food businesses have received mini-grants. Mini-grants have gone out to more than 16 additional sites across the state.
