MHEC 2+2 Transfer Scholarship Administered by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship is designed to assist and encourage transfer students from Maryland community colleges to attend a 4-year institution within the state and complete their bachelor's degrees in a timely manner. Students must be enrolled in an eligible accredited Maryland postsecondary institution. An awarded applicant is eligible to receive an award contingent on the availability of funds as follows: Recipients enrolling in a science, teaching, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or nursing program are eligible for $2,000 annually ($1,000 per term). Recipients enrolling in all other programs are eligible for to receive $1,000 annually ($500 per term). The 2+2 Transfer Scholarship may be used towards tuition and mandatory fees at the 4-year Maryland institution the student has transferred to. The scholarship can be renewed for up to 3 years, or six terms of study, whichever is longer.Eligibility

Individuals applying for the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship for the first time for the 2025-2026 academic year must:Be a resident of Maryland;Submit a 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application via the MHEC One-App in MDCAPS by December 31, 2025;By December 31, 2025: file the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);Be attending a Maryland community college with plans to finish an associate's degree by December 2025 OR have completed an associate's degree from a Maryland community in the 2024-2025 academic year; Applicants who complete their associate's degree in the 2025-2026 academic year must be transferring to a 4-year institution for Fall 2025; Applicants who will complete their associate's degree in Fall 2025 must be transferring to a 4-year institution in Spring 2026;Have maintained a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale while at a Maryland community college;Be transferring to a Maryland public or private nonprofit 4-year higher education institution as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student in the 2025-2026 academic year;Have demonstrated financial need;Student must not have a Student Aid Index (SAI) over $10,000;Submit all required documentation by the relevant deadline.Ineligibility
