Overview

Office of Grants Management The office provides assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs), other agencies and Department program offices through the establishment and maintenance of systems to plan for, acquire, award and manage grant funds in a fair and equitable manner to support initiatives that promote academic excellence, teacher and leader effectiveness, school innovation and choice, and accountability. Mental Health Screening in Schools-Year 3 Purpose The intent of the Mental Health Screening in Schools (MHSS) Grant Program is to provide supplemental funding and resources to allow Local Education Agencies (LEAs) involved in the School-Based Mental Health Services (SBMHS) Grant to implement depression screening programs to identify students in grades seven through twelve who are at risk of depression and related symptoms. The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has established a four project period grant program. The Mental Health Screening in Schools (MHSS) continuation grant program is open to the 10 remaining LEAs that were first selected through a competitive process in project period 1 for the School-Based Mental Health Grant Services (SBMHS) grant program. Maximum award size is dependent on student enrollment. Applicants may apply for $66,909 - $90,264 in project period 3. Based on the availability of state funding, project period 3 will begin January 1, 2026, and will end on December 31, 2026.
