Member Arts Organizations Operating Support / Allocations

Geographic Scope: Greater Kanawha Valley, West Virginia

Program Overview:
Fund for the Arts provides annual operating expense assistance to 12 member arts groups that operate in the Kanawha Valley. The organization raises funds from business, foundations, government, and individuals to distribute as operating support.

• Charleston Civic Chorus
• Charleston Light Opera Guild
• Children's Theatre of Charleston
• Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences
• Friends of Old Time Music and Dance (FOOTMAD)
• Kanawha Players
• River City Youth Ballet Ensemble
• West Virginia Symphony Orchestra
• West Virginia Youth Symphony
• WomanSong

How It Works:
Member art groups apply annually online and report extensively on their activities during the previous year. In October of each year, the Fund's Screening and Allocations Committee meets to review applications and determine the percentage of available funds that will be distributed to each group the following year. Once approved by the board, each group receives one-twelfth of their allocation on the tenth day of each month, ensuring a steady flow of income to cover everyday operating expenses.

1. Application Method: Apply annually online
