Melody SD2 Scholarship

Funder: San Diego Squared (SD2) in partnership with Louise and Marc Stapley

Established By: Louise and Marc Stapley, who were the first members of their respective families to attend college after high school and earn a degree

Geographic Scope: San Diego County region

Target Audience: High school students pursuing a college degree in a STEM-related field, particularly students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend college

Focus Areas:

Financial support for underrepresented STEM students

Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math fields

First-generation college students (implied)

Scholarship Details:

May be used for tuition, books, fees, room & board, and educational supplies

Every Squared Scholar is paired with a STEM professional mentor for one year

May be renewable for one additional year of STEM undergraduate coursework if student:

- Maintains minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrates good citizenship
- Continues to have financial need

Background: Created by Louise and Marc Stapley to help enable students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend college and earn a degree, supporting their vision of equitable educational access.
