Overview

The purpose of these one-year, $10,000 awards is to promote research opportunities to resident/fellows early in their careers by funding clinical or laboratory-based research projects focused on better understanding the prevention, early detection, behaviors that impact melanoma risk, biology and treatment of melanoma, including cutaneous, ocular, mucosal, pediatric, etc. In addition to awards focused on any aspect of melanoma research, we are pleased to also offer at least one award focused specifically on ocular melanoma research.

Must have at least 1 MD/PhD mentor involved in melanoma researchCo-mentors are permitted. Research must be performed at the same institution where the mentor is enrolledResearch must be applicant-led and NOT an extension of ongoing research within the institutionAll researchers enrolled in a U.S. institution are eligible.Research must be conducted in a non-profit research organization, a medical institution or an educational institution located in the United States. U.S. citizenship is NOT required for applicants.Applicants must be a radiation oncology, dermatology, or pathology resident OR a fellow in a two- or three-year fellowship program in the United States with an interest in melanoma research. Previous recipients of MRF Medical Student Research Grant Awards are eligible to apply.
