Mechanical and Aerospace Merit Scholarship Grant

The Mechanical and Aerospace Merit Scholarship offers $1000 per semester to attract and retain high-achieving students in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in the respective programs, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and commit to research projects with faculty. An additional $1000 is available for those in the accelerated MS degree program, awarded after project completion. This initiative fosters academic excellence and research engagement within the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The Mechanical and Aerospace Merit Scholarship is a $1000 per semester scholarship. The objectives of MAE merit scholarships are:
To attract meritorious students into mechanical and aerospace engineering undergraduate programs.To retain and encourage the students with excellent academic performance in these programs.
The funds for these scholarships were obtained from the differential tuition which was implemented at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in January 2013.
Students who have been accepted into the accelerated MS degree program in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering may apply for an additional award of $1,000.
Students must commit to working on a research project with an MAE faculty member. The research project must not be part of any course requirement. Students will receive the additional award in the fall semester after completing the research project.

Eligibility

Enrolled in the mechanical or aerospace engineering program prior to the final award of the scholarship. Undecided pre-engineering students qualify as long as they become enrolled in the mechanical or aerospace engineering program prior to the final award.Sophomore, junior or senior standing as of the fall semester following the submission deadline. A minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application.Not have full WMU scholarship funding.
