Meals on Wheels Texas Disaster Relief Grant Fund

Geographic Scope: Texas

Purpose: COVID-19 disaster relief assistance for Meals on Wheels programs

Funding Sources:

• Generous donations to MOWT website
• Texas Department of Agriculture
• H-E-B check-stand donations

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicant must be a home-delivered meal provider
• Applicant must be located in Texas or be a 2020 Meals on Wheels Texas member as of May 31, 2020
• Applicant must be a 501(c)(3) or governmental agency
• Must complete both required surveys by deadline

Special H-E-B Funding Exception

Grants based on H-E-B funding are open to all Meals on Wheels programs in Texas regardless of membership with one exception: Programs that have already received $10,000 or more in COVID-related donations from H-E-B are not eligible for H-E-B grant funds. However, such programs may still be eligible for Meals on Wheels Texas grant funds if membership is current.

Award Amounts

• Non-members: Minimum approximately $300
• Members: Minimum approximately $600
• Actual amounts varied based on number of eligible applicants

Application Process

Applicants must complete both required surveys to apply. Completing both surveys constitutes the complete application.

Required Surveys

1. Meals on Wheels Texas Disaster Relief Grant Survey
   • Estimated completion time: 20 minutes
   • Required information:
   • IRS Letter of Determination
   • W-9
   • Links to news articles and/or stories about your organization or clients during the pandemic (if available)
2. Meals on Wheels Texas COVID-19 Impact Survey
   • Estimated completion time: 15 minutes
   • Required information:
   • Client numbers for home-delivered meals (and congregate meals if applicable)
   • Meal numbers for home-delivered meals (and congregate meals if applicable)
   • Cost per meal for home-delivered meals (and congregate meals if applicable)
   • Above data for February, March, and April 2020
   • Number of additional meals that could be made
   • Note: Programs that already completed this survey before the grant was released on June 12, 2020 did not need to complete it again

• Both surveys must be completed and submitted by the deadline
