McKnight Artist Residencies Consortium

Amount: $720,000 awarded to ACA to design and implement consortium program over first three years; supports up to 98 McKnight Artist Fellows with residency opportunities

Geographic Scope: Minnesota-based artists; national and international residency partners

Eligibility:

  • McKnight Artist Fellows (Minnesota-based mid-career artists)

  • McKnight Artist Fellowships provide $25,000 in unrestricted support plus discipline-specific professional development

  • 14 different creative disciplines
  • Program Goals:

  • Build equitable capacity in artist communities field

  • Connect McKnight Artist Fellows with national and international residency opportunities

  • Support development of residency environments where any artist can thrive

  • Pathways for historically underrepresented artists in residency field
  • What Program Provides:

  • Access to residency space where artists can focus on creative practice

  • Collaboration opportunities with fellow artists

  • Experimentation with new media, materials, and ideas

  • Participating residencies receive resources and guidance on assessing/building equitable capacity

  • Peer working group participation for residency partners

  • Training on ACA's Healthy Residency Framework
  • Partner Network: 20 residency partner sites in first three years; ACA's international network includes 400 programs in 50 U.S. states and 24 countries

  • For McKnight Artist Fellows:

  • Eligible through McKnight Foundation's McKnight Artist Fellowships Program

  • Application managed through program partner organizations that administer fellowships

  • Fellowships structured to respond to unique challenges of different disciplines
