Overview

Up to three Mathematical Geosciences Student Awards will be awarded every year, to early career scientists (postgraduate students, i.e. Masters or Doctoral candidates, or Post-Doctoral researchers) working in the field of geomathematics. The total annual budget for these scholarships is US$7,500. Research projects should lie within the Aims & Scope of Mathematical Geosciences journal. The Mathematical Geosciences Student Awards are intended to encourage graduate students and post-doctoral researchers working in the field of mathematical methods in the geosciences. Mathematical Geosciences Journal Mathematical Geosciences publishes original, high-quality, interdisciplinary papers in geomathematics focusing on quantitative methods and studies of the Earth, its natural resources and the environment. This international publication is the official journal of the IAMG. Mathematical Geosciences is an essential reference for researchers and practitioners of geomathematics who develop and apply quantitative models to earth science and geo-engineering problems.

Eligibility

D. studies who wish to use the award to conduct a period of research related to their thesis, or newly qualified Post Doctoral scientists who are within three years following the completion of their Ph. D. studies at the deadline for application.The candidate must declare on the application form any other awards or grants applied for or received.Candidates should be undertaking research in geomathematics as outlined in the Aims & Scope of the journal Mathematical Geosciences. Candidates working in interdisciplinary areas which have relevance or application to mathematical geosciences will also be considered.Applications must be in English.
