Background: Named after Mary Lien Anderson, a teacher with 43 years of teaching experience, including 30 years in the Cambridge School District (1976-2001). She taught all eight grades in the one-room Smithback Schoolhouse before moving to teach first grade in Oak Creek, WI, and eventually returning to Cambridge.
Eligibility:
Process: Annually or as needed, a committee composed of elementary school teachers makes gifting recommendations and/or grant requests to the Executive Board of the Cambridge Foundation. The Foundation then distributes income from the fund.

3. Committee forwards recommendations to the Executive Board of the Cambridge Foundation
4. Foundation reviews and makes distribution decisions
5. Distributions made to qualifying tax-exempt public charities and/or Cambridge Public Schools
