NOTE: Nominations will close on the deadline. About Us Founded in 1924, the American Society of Parasitologists comprises a diverse group of about 700 scientists from academia, industry, and government involved in the study and teaching of the scientific discipline of parasitology. Society members contribute to the development of parasitology as a discipline, as well as to primary research in behavior, biochemistry, ecology, immunology, medicine, molecular biology, physiology, systematics, and other related fields of science. Henry Baldwin Ward Medal Marc H. Dresden (1938-1990) was a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry at the Baylor College of Medicine. He also served as the Associate Dean of the Graduate School. During his tenure at Baylor, he published approximately 70 articles on his Schistosoma research in a diverse number of journals including the Journal of Parasitology, Experimental Parasitology, the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and Comparative Biochemistry. Following his passing, his family endowed the Baylor College of Medicine Marc Dresden Excellence in Education Award. This award is given to individuals who make significant contributions to graduate education as distinguished teachers and advisors. The Marc H. Dresden Student Travel fund supports student travel awards associated with the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Parasitologists. These awards have been instrumental in increasing the number of students who can attend the annual meeting and present the results of their research to the ASP membership, especially those students residing outside of the continental US. Proceeds generated from the annual ASP Student Auction also are added to the student travel fund. Students applying for an MDSTG are not required to enter the Student Paper Competition.Eligibility
