Summary
The Biffa Award's Main Grants Scheme for Recreation focuses on enhancing community life through projects that improve recreational spaces. This includes installing play equipment in parks and renovating clubhouses for community use. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with funding decisions made quarterly. The scheme prioritizes projects that demonstrate broad community benefits, ensuring facilities serve diverse age groups and demographics, thus fostering a sense of community and well-being.Overview
NOTE: We have three different funding themes, and each one has its own eligibility criteria. The three themes are Community Buildings (for example a new roof for a village hall), Recreation [described on this page] (installing play equipment in a park) and Rebuilding Biodiversity (developing a wildlife habitat). You should carefully consider your theme before making an application. Please note - there can be no crossover between theme. You must select one theme and meet all the eligibility criteria for that theme. Submissions of Expression of Interest are now on a rolling basis. The Board meet four times a year to decide which projects to fund. Your application will go to the next available meeting so there are no restrictions on when you can apply. However, this does mean that it may take up to six months until you hear whether you have been successful. Biffa Award gives grants to community projects near landfill sites. We build communities and transform lives. Biffa Award’s Main Grants Scheme is aimed at groups that need funding to improve the quality of life in their community. We provide funding for site based capital expenditure to create or improve a community amenity Recreation Our Recreation theme covers projects which will benefit people in their free time, but also includes renovations of clubhouses which have a wider community use outside of sporting activities, for example a space that is used by the community in much in the same way as a village hall. Priority is given to projects that demonstrate wider community benefit. We expect your building to be used by many groups, benefiting people of different ages and demographics.Eligibility
