Biodiversity—the rich array of life on Earth—is fundamental to human survival, but under tremendous and growing threat. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) was founded in 2000 to address this challenge by empowering civil society in developing countries and transitional economies to protect the world’s biodiversity hotspots, which are some of Earth's most biologically rich yet threatened terrestrial ecosystems. Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands: Open Calls for Proposals The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and its regional implementation team (RIT) for the Madagascar and Indian Ocean Islands Biodiversity Hotspot are accepting letters of inquiry (LOI) from civil society organizations for projects that promote ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in response to climate change and that meet the eligible activities and geographies of this call for proposals. ATTENTION: Only projects focused on one or two of the following approaches will be considered eligible for this call: Developing and promoting "climate-resilient” diversified livelihood options: climate-smart agriculture, nature-based tourism, harvesting natural products.Promoting the control and eradication of invasive alien species.
