About GMA The mission of the Georgia Municipal Association is to anticipate and influence the forces shaping Georgia’s cities and to provide leadership, tools and services that assist municipal governments in becoming more innovative, effective and responsive. Local Road Administration (LRA) Assistance Funds Provides funding to local governments for local road projects. The Department is excited to announce that the Governor and the Legislature included Local Road Assistance Administration funds (LRA) in the amended fiscal year 2025 budget. The LRA funds will be administered and distributed using our GRANTS (LMIG) Application System. Eligible activities/projects for LRA funds will be the same as the LMIG program. LRA funds will require NO match.

The following activities/projects will be eligible for LMIG funds:Preliminary engineering (including engineering work for R/W plans and Utility plans)Construction supervision & inspectionUtility Adjustments or replacementPatching, leveling and resurfacing a paved roadwayGrading, Drainage, Base and Paving existing or new roadsReplacing storm drain pipe or culvertsIntersection improvementsTurn lanesBridge repair or replacementSidewalk adjacent (within right of way) to a public roadway or streetRoadway Signs, striping, guardrail installationSignal installation or improvementAggregate Surface Course for dirt road maintenanceFor an application to be processed, the following requirements must be met:A local government must be in audit compliance with the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA). A local government must also be in compliance with the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) minimum standards under the Georgia Planning Act, related to immigration and the Service Delivery Strategy law. (A non-compliant local government may start a draft application and then submit it once the local government is compliant.)A signed cover letter must be attached that includes the completion status of the last three fiscal years’ LMIG Grants.A signature page must include both the local government seal and the notary seal.

Ineligibility

Do not report roads that are:Alleys or alleywaysOn the property of a public or private schoolOwned by the state or the federal governmentPart of a gated community or apartment complexPrivately owned and/or restricted by gates or signageNot legally transferred to the local government
