Literature Awards: Innovation in Pharmacy Practice The Pharmacy Practice Research Award is given annually to the author(s) for an outstanding original research contribution to the peer-reviewed biomedical literature related to pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems. The article includes a strong methodologic component and robust results. This award is not intended to recognize research in drug therapy (See the Drug Therapy Research Award). INNOVATION IN PHARMACY PRACTICE The Award for Innovation in Pharmacy Practice is given annually to the author(s) for an outstanding contribution to the biomedical literature that describes a note-worthy innovation in pharmacy practice. The recipient of each award receives: $3000 honorariumPublic announcement via press release and other Foundation communication channelsPublic recognition at the ASHP Midyear Clinical MeetingA plaque commemorating their work ASHP Foundation As the philanthropic arm of ASHP, the Foundation shares ASHP’s vision that medication use will be optimal, safe, and effective for all people, all of the time. Our mission is to support ASHP by advancing the professional practice of pharmacists and the pharmacy workforce by funding research and education that improves health outcomes through optimal, safe, and effective medication use.Eligibility

Author The author who applies (i.e., applicant/recipient) must be a pharmacist.The applicant must be either the first, corresponding, or senior author listed on the submitted article.The applicant must have participated in each of the followingSubstantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data.Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual contentFinal approval of the version to be published.A previous recipient in one category is eligible to apply for a different category (e.g., recipient of Drug Therapy in 2023 is eligible to submit an article for Innovation in 2024).A previous recipient of the Pharmacy Practice Research Award is eligible to apply for the category after 5 years.A previous recipient of the Award for Innovation is eligible to apply for the category after 5 years.ArticlesThe article submitted for the Pharmacy Practice Research Award or Award for Innovation in Pharmacy Practice must have been published in a PubMed-indexed, peer-reviewed biomedical journal in the 2023 calendar year (January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023). Print or electronic articles that were published in 2023 are eligible for consideration. Articles that were published electronically in 2022 and in print in 2023 are not eligible for consideration if the electronic version was submitted for consideration in the 2023 Literature Awards Program cycle. An article may be submitted to one award category during a program cycle.Ineligibility
