Literary Arts Touring Grants

Geographic Scope: Nine-state region including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee

Purpose: Support the presentation of Southern writers of fiction, creative nonfiction, and/or poetry for public readings and educational activities

Funding Source: National Endowment for the Arts

Key Details:

• Grants are matched at least dollar for dollar by recipient organizations
• Part of South Arts' annual cycle of programming
• Supports Southern literary artists and writers
• Facilitates audience experience with the spoken word
• Exposes audiences to diverse Southern writers and poets

Eligible Applicants:

• Literary arts presenting organizations
• Arts organizations presenting out-of-state writers
• Community centers and educational institutions

Review Process:

• Proposals reviewed by panels of peers and respected leaders in the field
• Adjudicated based on impact and community benefit

Requirements:

• Applicants must plan to match grant funding at least dollar for dollar
