Geographic Scope: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area

Mission: Combine significant, multi-year funding with access to human and intellectual capital of life sciences sector to make meaningful impact while lowering administrative burden

Partner Selection Criteria:

• 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
• Proven track record of success in providing effective and efficient service to people impacted by poverty
• Commitment to addressing poverty and its challenges in operating cities
• Strong, committed leadership and financial stability
• Existing evaluation procedures or willingness to evaluate programs and measure outcomes
• Commitment to and knowledge of population served
• Respect and standing in community with relationships to other organizations
• Capacity to engage volunteers
• Willingness to be transparent about challenges
• Commitment to building creative partnership with Life Science Cares

Funding Considerations:
Staff, Board of Directors, Boards of Managers, and Grant Review Committees use both quantitative and qualitative criteria to select organizations through a competitive process.

Partnership Approach:

• Work side-by-side with partners for duration of grant term
• Address emergent needs and increase resilience
• Provide volunteer hours, donated goods, strategic support, and advocacy
• Support innovation in programs and services measurably increasing impact
• Interested in collaboration among nonprofits or public-private partnerships
• Listen to partners and communities to drive long-term solutions
