The Our Fund Foundation is the expert and thought leader on LGBTQ issues in South Florida and the most informed resource for assisting philanthropists with their charitable giving to LGBTQ causes and agencies in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Our Mission To promote philanthropy, manage enduring investments, and conduct impactful grant-making to improve the lives of LGBTQ people in South Florida. LGBTQ Social Justice & Equity The Our Fund Foundation/Community Foundation of Broward Funders Collaborative sets a collective goal of creating a more informed and empathetic general populace in Broward County that is supportive of protecting the civil liberties and expression of LGBTQ people living in Broward County. OUR OBJECTIVE WITH THIS RFP: At a time when the national political discourse is re-engaging discussions about the basic civil liberties afforded to LGBTQ citizens, it is of critical importance to the well-being of all Broward residents that we work collectively to end discrimination against LGBTQ people. Broward County has the highest percentage of gay households in Florida and one of the highest in the country. Fort Lauderdale, the county seat of Broward County, was the one of the first to legalize protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation and its school district was among the first to support LGBTQ History Month in October. Broward welcomes more than 1.1 million LGBTQ visitors annually, making LGBTQ tourism an economic generator of the region. While the affluence of a segment of Broward’s LGBTQ community is highly visible, LGBTQ people in Broward and across the country remain a marginalized class and vulnerable population. Actions and policies being discussed in the political discourse are expected to further exacerbate disparities imposed upon LGBTQ people, including in health, income, education, and safety. For these reasons and for the safety and well-being of all Broward residents, it is imperative that we engage and expand integration of LGBTQ equity initiatives aimed at the whole community into our community investment priorities. To that end, OF and CFB are partnering to support programs and services that will create awareness among Broward County’s residents about the size, diversity, impact and influence of Broward’s significant LGBTQ community and implement strategies that will achieve the following: Build bridges of understanding, awareness and empathy among Broward County’s residents related to the systemic injustices currently and historically facing LGBTQ people, and/or Create programs and services for Broward County’s residents in the areas of the economic, health, education, stigma and other challenges facing LGBTQ people in our community, and/or Foster community engagement to initiate or continue advocacy work to address unique systemic barriers that prevent LGBTQ+ and LGBTQ+BIPOC from achieving equity in all areas of life. Your efforts to intended to ensure advances in LGBT equality take root and are sustained. Funding Priorities Priority will be given to projects and agency missions that promote racial justice and equity, and counteract systemic racism. Funds may be used toward either programmatic or operating support. We encourage applicants from Black-led organizations to apply.Eligibility
