About LEAH Project:
LEADERS through Education, Action, and Hope (LEAH) is a STEM, college readiness, and workforce development program for low-income Boston Public Schools (BPS) students of color.

Key Program Components:

  • Recruitment and training of BPS high school students to become LEAH Mentors

  • Intensive training and paid internships for Mentors

  • Near-peer STEM instruction for elementary school students

  • Personalized college and job readiness counseling

  • Exposure to STEM career paths through field trips, career events, college visits

  • Recent expansion to new STEM tracks: biomedical research, environmental education, technology
  • Technology Track (Funded by This Grant):

  • Near-peer tech curriculum in electricity and circuits

  • Tech career exploration opportunities

  • Summer course in Introductory Computer Science and Coding
  • Program Outcomes:
    Cultivates power of youth leaders to transform their lives and communities through science, education, and service.
