LEAD: BUILD Health Program

Program Type: Community training and leadership development program

Geographic Scope: New Orleans, LA, particularly the Claiborne Corridor

  • Program Description:
    LEAD (Leadership, Engagement, Advocacy, and Development) is FFL's community training program that equips Louisiana residents with tools to steer local and regional decision-making processes. The BUILD Health edition focuses on the intersections of transportation access and public health.

    Program Structure:

  • Duration: 8 weeks

  • Format: Interactive sessions with guest experts

  • Focus on transportation planning, community organizing, advocacy, public policy, and land use/development
  • Participant Outcomes:
    Participants will:

  • Identify social justice interests and envision leading change around equitable transportation

  • Build relationships with other community leaders and LEAD participants

  • Understand and navigate multiple agencies, departments, and government officials involved in transportation decisions

  • Learn lessons from other communities using transportation policies for equitable outcomes

  • Learn about Foundation for Louisiana and its LEAD programs
