HESAA, the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, is the only New Jersey state agency with the sole mission of providing students and families with financial and informational resources to pursue education beyond high school. Our Mission is to make education affordable. Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Scholarship This Law Enforcement Officer Memorial (LEOM) Scholarship is available to dependent children of New Jersey law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The award is renewable for up to four years and covers the cost of attendance less other scholarships, grants, benefits, and other financial aid awarded by HESAA. The LEOM scholarship covers up to the cost of attendance, less other scholarships, grants, benefits and other assistance awarded under HESAA statute.Eligibility

Students must: Be a dependent child of a New Jersey law enforcement officer killed in the line of dutyBe citizens, eligible non-citizens or eligible to file the NJ Alternative Financial Aid ApplicationBe enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program at an approved (participating) New Jersey college, university or degree-granting proprietary school during the Fall and/or Spring semester(s) onlySummer term available in limited circumstancesMaintain satisfactory academic progress Summer Eligibility (available in limited circumstances):Must be graduating at the end of the summer term in the same academic year that you received an LEOM payment in the fall or spring.Have not received the maximum number of payments (8)Must be enrolled at least full timeIneligibility
