Overview
Lancaster County Firefighters Education Foundation (LCFEF) Scholarship
Award Amount: $1,000 per year (one year = two semesters), renewable for up to 4 years
Number of Awards: Two scholarships awarded annually
Geographic Scope: Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
- Applicants must be affiliated with a Lancaster County Emergency Services Organization (ESO) that is a member of the Lancaster County Firemen's Association (LCFA)
- Affiliation is through either the applicant or an immediate family member being a member of the ESO
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) prior to applying
- Must maintain minimum 2.5 GPA to renew scholarship
Eligibility
- Any public or private four (4) year accredited college or university
- Any public or private two-year accredited college
- Any public or private accredited Vocational-Technical College or Training Institution
Eligible Educational Institutions
- Tuition fees or charges
- Room and board expenses while attending school
- Textbooks, course work, lab fees and other materials as required by course instructors
Permitted Use of Award Money
- Scholarships are awarded annually at recipient's appropriate High School awards ceremony
- Recipient must submit grade report at end of school year to receive payment and renew for subsequent years
- Awards are not transferable to another individual
- Recipient may transfer to another eligible institution
- Recipient will be requested to attend LCFA annual meeting (first Saturday of June) for recognition

Application Requirements
1. Submit Application Materials
- Completed scholarship application (download available)
- Submit by US Mail or email to treasurer@lcfa.com
2. Academic Documentation
- Copy of school transcript from sending school and grade report
- Transcript should list all grade points earned and academic course work completed to date
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
3. Essay
- Short essay (approximately 200 words)
- Explain why applicant should be selected for the scholarship
- Describe how the course work will benefit their career and their community
4. Acceptance Letter
- Copy of acceptance letter from accredited post-secondary institution
5. Letters of Recommendation
- Two letters of recommendation from any of the following (no relatives):
- High School Representative (Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Principal, or other school-affiliated person)
- Community Representative (Fire Chief, EMS Chief, Police Chief, Municipal Official, Pastor, Employer, or other community member)
- Applications must be submitted by April 17, 2026
