Lakeview School Reunion Scholarship Fund

Overview: This scholarship honors the legacy of Lakeview High School, which served African American students in Big Spring prior to desegregation until its last graduating class in 1961.

Eligibility:

Big Spring High School seniors

Students who rank below the top 10% of their graduating class

Priority given to students who might not otherwise receive scholarships

Selection Process: Proposed recipients are chosen by the principal and counselors at Big Spring High School.

History: Created in November 2021 using funds from a planned 2019 reunion (postponed due to COVID) and significant donations from brothers Clarence and Dennis Hartfield. First scholarship awarded in summer 2022 to Derek Howard.
