Our Mission The Kiwanis Club of La Jolla carries out this mission in its broadest sense. We serve the children by making our community a better, child friendly place. We raise money through our main fund-raising event the La Jolla Half Marathon, and we portion the proceeds through four major grant committees to give to community needs as identified by the committees’ charters. Funding Areas Grant Committees administer funds, provided by the La Jolla Kiwanis Foundation, which are designated for charitable organizations in the following areas: Young Children Priority One (YCPO)Young Children Priority One (YCPO) is an ongoing community service program of Kiwanis International that addresses the needs of children age 0-5. Young Children Priority One focuses on four key areas:maternal and child healthchildcare and developmentparent education and supportsafety and pediatric traumaCommunity ServicesThis committee supports the broader needs of the La Jolla and San Diego communities as a whole, such as our military veterans, hunger, medicine, animals and more.Youth ServicesKiwanis’ motto of “Serving the Children of the World” is the major focus of this committee whose grants are designated to assist and promote in the education, health and welfare of school-aged children.International CommitteeWhile maintaining a focus on helping children, this committee reaches out to the world to assist those in need.Special ProjectOne-time expenditure over $2500Eligibility
