Kids' Weekend Backpack Program
A fight against hunger
Purpose: The staff, parents, and community of all K-4 elementary schools, as well as The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc., have come together to help fight hunger by supplying weekend food for students in need.
Geographic Scope: K-4 elementary schools in Butler Area School District, Pennsylvania
Program Details:
- Each student participating in the program discreetly receives a plastic bag each Friday packed with child-friendly, single-serving snacks and easily prepared meals in their backpack
- Monetary and food donations are accepted toward the program
