Overview

Our Mission To provide children, particularly underserved minorities, with the opportunity to participate in safe and impactful fitness, nutritional, and enrichment programs empowering them to live healthy and productive lives. Our History Founded in 2007, the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation collaborated with Pelican Island Elementary School providing enrichment and tennis programs. These programs provided a safe environment for children to participate in such activities as tennis, dance, gardening, sports and art. The Foundation is now stronger than ever, with the recruitment of new leadership, the addition of more volunteers and advisers and a new, heightened commitment and partnership with schools, teachers, families, and community. Our vision is to inspire and transform the lives of all children by supporting and developing healthy and positive youth development programs. Currently, MFCF supports over 2,400 children throughout Indian River County, Florida by funding after-school exercise, nutritional and enrichment programs in a safe environment to prepare them for healthy, productive and successful lives. The Foundation introduced the “Six Healthy Habits” in 2012 which are Get Sleep; Drink Water; Exercise Daily, Eat Healthy; Brush and Floss; Make Friends. Kids in Motion The purpose of The Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation – Kids in Motion Grant is to assist Schools & Community Based Organizations in initiating, expanding, or enhancing their health, fitness, nutrition, or enrichment programs. Absolute Priority The expressed priority is on safety and wellness to help children learn and build on lifelong healthy habits that surround the health, fitness and nutrition for children grades K-12. Additionally, this program requires that an applicant propose a program that will address healthy habits, progressive tennis skills, life skills, physical fitness and nutrition for youth.

Eligibility

Indian River County community-based organizations or schools and tennis outreach program (non-exclusive).Organization or program receiving grants will commit to the following requirements:Participating in or volunteering for the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation Tennis Championship spring tournament as requested. (1-3 hr commitment as a program)Submitting public release photos via email bi-monthly of programming taking place.Complete and submit program evaluation - Provide information about the program including attendance records, number of student participants by ethnic background, plus any other support information and feedback from the students and their families.Incorporate Mardy’s Six Healthy Habits throughout the program.Include the Mardy Fish Children's Foundation logo on all printed itemsDisplay provided MFCF Six Healthy Habits banner.
