Overview

The Kevin J. Kritz Memorial Research Grant provides financial support for field research on eagle biology and conservation anywhere around the globe. The Fund was established by Kevin’s family in 2023 in memory of this distinguished and devoted raptor conservationist, biologist, public servant, and long-time member of the RRF, Kevin Kritz (1959-2022). Amount: Up to $2,000 plus waived page charges. The waived page charges allow the recipient to publish their research in the Journal of Raptor Research. The recipient must be the primary author and the paper must reflect what the award was for. About Kevin Kritz Over his long and successful career, Kevin worked for three U.S. government agencies; the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and most recently the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where he worked for 21 years before his passing. In all those roles, Kevin worked tirelessly to achieve conservation for raptors and to ensure that the best available science and high ethical standards were at the core of our decision making. Kevin appreciated all wildlife and raptors but had a particular love of eagles. For many years, he voiced concerns on their behalf in a world where it’s sometimes all too easy to forget why they are important. Kevin will be remembered for his passion for raptors and eagles, his wonderful sense of humor and his laugh, and his leadership and professionalism when seeking conservation goals for raptors.
