About Us The Elk County Community Foundation was started in the late 1990’s by a group of business and civic leaders, with the support of the Stackpole-Hall Foundation, who recognized the need for creating a perpetual funding stream to support Elk County—now and in the future. The Foundation was incorporated in 2000 and a year later was classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation provides donors with a simple but powerful and highly personal approach to achieving their philanthropic goals while enhancing the quality of life for the people of Elk County. The Community Foundation makes it easy for individuals, businesses, and organizations to establish a scholarship fund. Your fund can be created in as little as one meeting, with a short fund agreement, and a single gift. Or your fund can be set up with an initial gift that is added to in the future. We manage all the administrative details of your fund for you. By establishing a uniquely-named scholarship, you have the ability to designate eligibility requirements including education level, the field of study, geographic area, etc. Many scholarships are established to honor parents, a family member, or someone who influenced your life. Most scholarship funds at the Foundation are permanent endowments, with the annual earnings used to provide the scholarships Kelley Hritz Memorial Arts Scholarship This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Kelley Hritz. Kelley (Musselman) was a graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School in New Paris, PA, Class of 2001, and a graduate of the Pittsburgh Technical Institute class of 2003 with a degree in Graphic Design. Kelley moved to St. Marys in 2006 with her husband and son. Kelley wore many hats during her time living in the St. Marys area. She worked for the non-profit Life and Independence For Today (LIFT) helping people with disabilities, JIT Tool & Die as their Quality Manager, Guardian Home Health/Aveanna healthcare helping provide in home healthcare, and most recently at Northwest Bank. Kelley was an artist at heart. She loved all music (except country) and was a member of her high school concert and marching band, playing the clarinet. She loved cinema and theater, and portrayed Glinda the Good Witch in her high school production of “The Wizard of Oz”. She wrote poetry and loved drawing and painting. She was a talented photographer and loved capturing memories for people. She owned her own photography business, Twilight Photography and Design. She took classes at the Winkler Gallery in 2019 to learn how to make stained glass. Kelley shared her love for art with her family, doing projects with nieces and nephews, and taking her family on trips to museums frequently. Kelley’s love for the arts will live on through this scholarship, helping future artists to create amazing and beautiful things, and she would love that. Amount: $1,000, determined annually
